Nigeria’s star striker, Victor Osimhen, turned down a massive €30m-a-year contract offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli, opting to continue his loan spell at Turkish giants Galatasaray, it has been revealed.
The decision comes as the 25-year-old forward is enjoying a stellar season, with 17 goals in 23 appearances, and remains determined to help the club clinch a third consecutive Turkish Super Lig title as well as secure success in the UEFA Europa League.
Al Ahli, who have been pursuing Osimhen since last year, reportedly made a €80m bid to Napoli for the striker according to a report from Cronache di Napoli newspaper, but he rejected the offer in favor of his current commitments in Istanbul.
Despite the tempting financial lure, the Super Eagles forward has repeatedly stated his desire to focus on winning more silverware with Galatasaray before considering a move elsewhere.
Galatasaray are in the hunt for a treble this season – they top the Super Lig log and are in the next round of the Europa League and the Turkish Cup.
Osimhen’s impressive form this season has garnered the attention of top European clubs, including Newcastle United, Arsenal, and Chelsea, all of whom may make a move for the player during the upcoming summer transfer window.
While Napoli initially sought a hefty £113m for Osimhen over a year ago, it is believed that he will be available for around £60m this summer, a price that could prove enticing to suitors.
Despite not scoring in his team’s most recent Turkish Super Lig match, Osimhen is expected to continue his strong performances as Galatasaray prepare for an important clash against AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa League.
