In a bid to enhance transparency and accountability in governance, President Bola Tinubu has directed all ministers to regularly brief Nigerians on their activities and policies.
The Federal Government commenced these ministerial press briefings, with the first one announced by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.
Idris revealed that the directive was aimed at providing the public with direct updates on the work and progress of each ministry.
“The briefings will serve as a platform for ministers to engage with Nigerians, outline developments in their respective ministries, and address any concerns from the public,” Idris said.
Under this initiative, ministers will take turns addressing the media weekly, offering insights into key actions, achievements, and plans within their ministries.
The briefings will provide Nigerians with a comprehensive view of the government’s ongoing activities, with an emphasis on fostering better understanding of his policies.
This move, which precedes the second anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration, underscores the government’s commitment to open communication and active citizen engagement.
Nigerians are encouraged to stay informed through these regular updates, which aim to build trust and improve the relationship between the government and the people.
The ministerial press briefings are set to become a recurring feature of the government’s communications strategy, providing a critical space for direct interaction and feedback from the public.
