Real Madrid pulled off a dramatic 3-2 victory over Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League knockout round play-offs on Tuesday, with Jude Bellingham scoring a last-minute goal to secure the win at the Etihad Stadium.
The match, which had fans on the edge of their seats, began with Manchester City taking the lead in the 19th minute. Erling Haaland converted an assist from Joško Gvardiol to give City the early advantage. Despite Real Madrid’s efforts, City held on to the lead and went into halftime 1-0 up.
However, the Spanish giants responded emphatically after the break. Kylian Mbappé equalised for Madrid in the 60th minute, finishing off a brilliant assist from Dani Ceballos to level the score at 1-1.
City regained their lead in the 80th minute when Haaland converted a penalty, making it 2-1 and seeming to push the home side closer to a victory. But Madrid was far from done.
In a dramatic twist, Brahim Díaz scored the equaliser in the 86th minute with a well-timed pass from Vinícius Junior to bring the match level at 2-2. As the final whistle approached, it looked like extra time was inevitable.
But just when it seemed like the game would end in a draw, Jude Bellingham seized the moment. In the second minute of stoppage time, Bellingham latched onto a perfect cross from Vinícius and fired home, completing Madrid’s comeback and securing a 3-2 win.
The victory places Real Madrid in a commanding position as they advance to the next stage of the competition, while City will have to regroup after a heartbreaking defeat.
