Baseless, Politically Motivated, Governor Diri Refutes Pregnancy Rumors

Date:

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has denied allegations linking him to the pregnancy of former Big Brother Naija housemate, Nengi Rebecca Hampson. The governor described the claims as baseless and politically motivated, aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

The rumors surfaced on social media after a popular blogging platform alleged that Governor Diri was involved in Nengi’s pregnancy. However, Nengi publicly debunked the speculation on her social media accounts, dismissing it as false.

Reacting to the reports, Governor Diri expressed shock and disappointment, particularly since the allegations coincided with the 5th anniversary of his administration.

His Director of New Media, Dr. Kola Oredipe, also dismissed the claims in a statement posted on social media, emphasizing that Nengi has no personal relationship with the governor.

“This is a distraction from the administration’s achievements. Sadly, while we were inaugurating a brand new road in Yenagoa, social media e-rats were spreading falsehoods about the governor,” Oredipe said.

He condemned the spread of misinformation and described it as a politically motivated attack meant to discredit the governor’s growing political profile. Oredipe further stressed the need to regulate social media to curb the spread of fake news.

Governor Diri, described by his aide as a man of honor and dignity, reaffirmed his commitment to serving Bayelsa residents and urged the public to disregard the false reports.
