The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has rescued a 75-year-old woman who was kidnapped and sexually assaulted in Ifira Akoko, Akoko South-East Local Government Area of the state. The rescue occurred during an anti-kidnapping operation conducted by the security outfit.

The victim, who recounted her harrowing experience, said she was attacked by three men while returning from her farm. “I was on my way back from the farm when I saw three men approaching. Suddenly, they grabbed my hands and dragged me into the bush,” she recalled with tears. “One of them forcefully removed my clothes and assaulted me. I cried for help until Amotekun operatives came to my rescue.”

In a related development, the Amotekun Corps also arrested several suspected kidnappers involved in the recent abduction of 18 passengers along the Akure–Owo highway. The passengers were reportedly ambushed and dragged into the forest by the suspects.

One of the victims shared her traumatic experience: “They forced us off the bus and led us into the bush. One of them grabbed me and, despite my struggle, tore my clothes and violated me.”

While parading the suspects at the Amotekun headquarters in Akure, Corps Commander Akogun Adetunji Adeleye confirmed that the suspects were apprehended during the ongoing crackdown on criminal activities across the state. He assured the public that the culprits would be prosecuted as soon as the investigation was concluded.

“We will ensure these criminals face the full weight of the law. Our commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Ondo State remains unwavering,” Adeleye stated.

The Amotekun Corps has continued to strengthen security operations in the state, receiving praise for its prompt response in combating kidnapping and other violent crimes in the region.
