The Nigerian Police in Anambra State announced, Thursday, the recovery of the corpse of Labour Party’s representative in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Justice Azuka, who was reportedly abducted on December 24, 2024.
Before his death Hon. Azuka represented Onitsha-North State Constituency.
This medium earlier reported that the deceased lawmaker was kidnapped on Christmas Eve at around 9pm in Ugwunakpamkpa, Inland Town, Onitsha, while returning home for the Christmas celebration.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, Superintendent of Police (SP) Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that his body was discovered near the Second Niger Bridge in Onitsha.
SP Ikenga told the media “Our men are recovering the corpse now, and I think they should be on their way bringing it here to the State Police Headquarters in Amawbia.”
On how the body was found, the State Police spokesman said “I want my CP (Commissioner of Police) to speak on it. Just wait, he will brief the press on it.”
Recall, the lawmaker’s vehicle in which he drove when he was kidnapped was recovered days after his abduction at the Upper Iweka area.
Meanwhile, Labour Party has described Azuka`a abduction and murder as evidence of lawlessness in the Governor Charles Soludo led state.
