A tragic incident has occurred in Imo State, where a pregnant woman has lost her life after a doctor reportedly performed a Cesarean Section (C-Section) using a YouTube video as a guide. The incident, which unfolded at Lebechi Hospital in Owerri, has left the woman’s family devastated and sparked a police investigation.
On Tuesday, the deceased’s husband, Onyekachi Eze, along with popular Nollywood producer Stanley Ontop, visited the Imo Police Command to report the incident. According to Eze, his wife was in labor and bleeding when they arrived at the hospital. A female doctor suggested that a Cesarean Section was necessary due to the complications.
However, what followed was shocking. Eze explained that, while he was present in the operating room, the doctor and another medical professional were seen watching a YouTube video on their phones to learn how to perform the surgery. Tragically, the procedure ended in the death of both his wife and their unborn child.
In a subsequent video shared on social media, Stanley Ontop revealed that the hospital owner had been arrested by the police following the report, while nurses involved in the incident were also taken into custody. However, the two doctors who performed the surgery have reportedly absconded, and authorities are actively searching for them.
The incident has drawn widespread outrage and raised serious concerns about the quality of medical care and the use of inappropriate methods in critical procedures. Authorities have promised a thorough investigation to ensure justice for the victims and to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
