A man identified as Adedoye Emmanuel is currently fighting for his life in the intensive care unit of Igando General Hospital in Lagos, after a failed suicide attempt. The 29-year-old, who resides in the Agbado area of Lagos, drank Sniper insecticide mixed with Coca-Cola and Action Bitters following a heartbreak from an undisclosed lover and other personal struggles.
The incident took place in a hotel on Governor’s Road, Ikotun, Lagos. Emmanuel, unable to cope with the emotional pain, checked into the hotel and ingested the deadly mixture. Shortly after, he began to feel the adverse effects and raised an alarm. Hotel staff immediately intervened, and Emmanuel was rushed to a private hospital.
Upon regaining some consciousness, Emmanuel revealed the emotional turmoil behind his drastic decision. However, he soon slipped into unconsciousness again and was transferred to Igando General Hospital for further medical attention. At the time of the report, doctors were working tirelessly to stabilize him.
Authorities were alerted, and the police visited the hotel, where they retrieved the can of Sniper insecticide. Emmanuel’s full identity remains unknown as his phone was not with him, and his emergency contact numbers have not been reachable.
A kind-hearted Good Samaritan has stepped forward to cover Emmanuel’s medical bills, both at the private and general hospitals. Efforts to locate his family have been unsuccessful so far.
This tragic incident highlights the importance of emotional support and mental health awareness, especially in times of relationship breakdowns.
