NNPCL Fast Consolidating Role As Energy Security Company, Ugochinyere

Date:

Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), Ikenga Ugochinyere, has said that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) led by Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari is fast consolidating its role as a profitable energy security company.

He said this while referring to the establishment of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State.

Recall that the NNPCL last week flagged off the construction of five mini Liquefied Natural Gas plants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State, saying it was part of its commitment to driving the country’s gas revolution.

The initiative, aimed at expanding Nigeria’s domestic gas utilisation, is expected to boost energy access, support industrialisation, and create job opportunities.

Kyari, during the groundbreaking ceremony in Kogi State emphasised that the location is strategic for the plants as the company’s pipeline network has already reached the area.

Reacting, Ugochinyere in a statement commended NNPCL and other stakeholders for their joint efforts in achieving the tremendous feat.

He described the initiative as a well needed major change in the energy sector, noting that Liquefied natural gas can help the country’s economy, create jobs, and improve air quality.

He assured Nigerians, NNPCL and various stakeholders of the parliament’s continuous legislative interventions and support to ensure energy sufficiency for the country through such moves by the federal government.
