González Joins Man City on Five-Year Deal Until 2029

Date:

Manchester City have completed the signing of midfielder Nico González from FC Porto in a deal worth €60 million. The 22-year-old Spanish international has agreed to a contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until June 2029.

The deal was finalized after City and Porto reached an agreement on the transfer structure, matching the player’s release clause. González traveled to England earlier this week to undergo his medical and complete contract formalities.

City manager Pep Guardiola had reportedly identified González as a key target to bolster the team’s midfield options following recent departures and injuries. Known for his versatility, passing accuracy, and defensive prowess, González is expected to play a crucial role in Guardiola’s squad for both domestic and European competitions.

Speaking after the deal was confirmed, González expressed his excitement about joining the Premier League champions. “It’s a dream come true to join Manchester City. I’m looking forward to working with Pep Guardiola and contributing to the success of this incredible team,” he said.

González was instrumental for FC Porto last season, helping the club secure a domestic double and making a name for himself as one of Europe’s most promising midfield talents. His move to City marks a significant step in his career, and fans are eager to see how he will adapt to the Premier League.

Manchester City’s next fixture is against Tottenham Hotspur, where González could make his debut if registered in time.
