Date:

Cristiano Ronaldo has opened up about his relationship with Lionel Messi, revealing that there has never been any animosity between the two football legends. Despite their intense rivalry on the pitch for over two decades, Ronaldo insisted that their relationship has always been respectful, emphasizing that he has “never had any bad relationship” with Messi.

The two have long been regarded as the best players of their generation, often compared for their individual accomplishments and incredible records. Ronaldo, with five Ballon d’Ors, and Messi, with eight Golden Balls, have dominated the footballing world, each securing numerous titles and personal achievements. From domestic league titles in Spain, Italy, and England to international success with Portugal and Argentina, their rivalry has shaped modern football.

In a recent interview with La Sexta, Ronaldo addressed the ongoing debate over their supremacy in world football. When asked about their relationship, the Portuguese forward clarified, “On the contrary,” highlighting his positive stance towards Messi.

Ronaldo, who will turn 40 on February 5, is still going strong with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, continuing his prolific form on the field. Meanwhile, Messi, at 37, is thriving in Major League Soccer with Inter Miami, where he was named MVP.

Despite their age, both players continue to dominate football in their own way. When asked if another pair could emerge in football history to match their numbers, Ronaldo expressed hope but acknowledged the rarity of such a feat: “I hope so, it would be very good for football… but I think it’s unlikely.”

As Ronaldo continues to chase the milestone of 1,000 career goals, fans of both players can appreciate the ongoing legacy of the two greatest players to ever grace the sport, regardless of the rivalry that has defined their careers.
