History Made! Beyoncé Wins Best Country Album, Extends Grammy Record

Date:

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter once again cemented her legacy at the 2025 Grammy Awards, making history as the first Black woman to win Best Country Album for her groundbreaking project, Cowboy Carter.

The award, presented by Taylor Swift, marked a defining moment for both Beyoncé and the country music genre. The singer, who secured 11 nominations at the ceremony, also took home another Grammy for Album of the Year, bringing her career total to a record-breaking 34 Grammy wins—the most of any artist in history.
An Emotional Acceptance Speech

Taking the stage in disbelief, Beyoncé expressed her gratitude, saying:

“Wow, I really was not expecting this. Wow, I wanna thank God—Oh my God!—that I’m able to still do what I love after so many years. Oh my God!”

She went on to acknowledge the significance of her win, thanking the country music community for embracing the album.

“I’d like to thank all of the incredible country artists that accepted this album. We worked so hard on it. I think sometimes genre is a code word to keep us in our place as artists, and I just want to encourage people to do what they’re passionate about and to stay persistent.”

Beyoncé also gave a heartfelt shoutout to her family, collaborators, and fans, adding:

“This wouldn’t have been this album without you. I’d like to thank God again and my fans, and I still am in shock. So thank you so much for this honour.”

A Groundbreaking Moment for Country Music

Released in March 2024, Cowboy Carter was a landmark project that spotlighted Black artists in country music. Beyoncé previously revealed that she had not always felt welcomed in the genre, making her Grammy win even more significant.

Her song “Texas Hold ‘Em” also earned nominations for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Country Song, while “16 Carriages” and “Ya Ya” received nods for Best Country Solo Performance and Best Americana Performance, respectively.
Extending Her Reign as the Most Awarded Grammy Artist

Already the most-awarded artist in Grammy history—a title she first claimed in 2023 with Renaissance—Beyoncé further extended her record with two more wins at the 2025 ceremony.

With 34 Grammys to her name, Beyoncé continues to shape music history, breaking barriers and redefining genres along the way.
