Kwara State Governor, AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq, has appointed the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ismail Alebiosu, as the leader of the state’s delegation for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. This appointment marks a significant responsibility for the monarch, who will lead the Kwara contingent to the sacred pilgrimage.
Oba Alebiosu, who was recently named Chancellor of the newly established State University of Education, will now take on the additional role of guiding Kwara’s delegation for one of the most revered religious events for Muslims worldwide.
The governor’s decision was communicated through a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Saturday. The appointment is part of a series of changes made by the governor, including the appointment of Alhaji Lateef Oloyin as the new Principal Private Secretary to the Governor and the renewal of Professor Raheem Adaramaja’s tenure as Chairman of the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
Oloyin, a long-time ally of the governor, brings with him a wealth of experience as a boardroom operator, community leader, and grassroots politician. He holds an MBA from the Federal University of Technology in Akure and a Higher National Diploma in Banking and Finance from Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin. His appointment is expected to further strengthen the governor’s administration.
Professor Adaramaja, who has been instrumental in implementing transformative reforms and infrastructure development in Kwara’s basic education sector, has had his term renewed for another period. Since taking office in 2019, Adaramaja has overseen substantial improvements in educational facilities across the state.
Governor AbdulRazaq’s appointments reflect his ongoing commitment to strengthening leadership in the state, both in governance and key sectors, such as education and religious affairs. The Olupo of Ajase-Ipo’s appointment as Amirul Hajj underscores his leadership in the community as he prepares to guide the state’s pilgrims in their spiritual journey this year.
