Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr are making a last-minute push to secure multiple high-profile signings from the Premier League, with a staggering £140 million transfer budget ahead of their deadline day.
Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran is on the verge of finalizing a £64 million move to the club, joining Cristiano Ronaldo in Riyadh. The Colombian forward is expected to travel to Saudi Arabia on Friday to complete his medical and officially sign with Al-Nassr.
Meanwhile, Brighton & Hove Albion winger Kaoru Mitoma has also emerged as a prime target. Al-Nassr initially submitted a £54 million bid for the Japanese international, which was rejected by Brighton. However, the Saudi club is reportedly preparing an improved £75 million offer that could test Brighton’s resolve. Mitoma remains content at Brighton and is not actively seeking a move away from European football, but the club may find the financial package too lucrative to refuse.
Manchester City’s Mateo Kovacic has also attracted interest from Al-Nassr, though no formal approach has been made yet. A move for the Croatian midfielder could be complicated as City would need to secure a suitable replacement before sanctioning his departure. Juventus’ Douglas Luiz has been identified as a potential alternative for City, but negotiations over a loan deal remain unresolved.
In a bid to make room for new signings, Al-Nassr is reportedly open to offloading former Liverpool forward Sadio Mane. The Senegalese international featured in the team’s recent league win over Al-Raed, but his future at the club remains uncertain. Rival Saudi club Al-Hilal has already turned down the opportunity to sign him.
Looking ahead to the summer transfer window, Al-Hilal is setting its sights on Liverpool icon Mohamed Salah. Saudi Arabia’s sports minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, recently expressed enthusiasm over the prospect of Salah joining the Saudi Pro League, calling it a “pleasure and privilege” to have the Egyptian star in the league. However, Salah’s future remains subject to negotiations between clubs.
