Trump Directs Pentagon to Prepare 30,000 Beds for Migrants at Guantanamo

Date:

Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he will sign an executive order directing the Pentagon to prepare Guantanamo Bay to detain 30,000 “criminal illegal aliens.”

Speaking about the initiative, Trump stated, “Today I’m also signing an executive order to instruct the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security to begin preparing the 30,000-person migrant facility at Guantanamo Bay. Most people don’t even know about it.”

He emphasized that the move is necessary to prevent deported migrants from returning, adding, “It’s a tough place to get out of.”

The executive order marks a significant shift in immigration policy, raising questions about human rights concerns, legal challenges, and the facility’s capacity. Guantanamo Bay, primarily known for housing terrorism suspects, has long been a controversial detention site.

Further details on the timeline and logistics of the order have yet to be disclosed.
