Rashford Spotted Back in Training After Nine-Match Absence

Date:

Marcus Rashford made a highly anticipated return to Manchester United training on Wednesday, appearing in high spirits despite ongoing transfer rumors. This marks the first time the England international has joined the squad since he admitted last month that he is considering a move away from Old Trafford in search of “a new challenge.”

The 27-year-old forward participated in Ruben Amorim’s final training session ahead of United’s Europa League clash with Rangers on Thursday. Rashford’s absence, spanning nine matches, has coincided with a challenging period for the Red Devils, who have lost five of those games.

Sources close to Rashford indicate he is ready to play if selected, with extra training sessions reportedly helping him stay match-ready. While Rashford has expressed openness to remaining at United and fighting for his place, his brother and agent, Dwaine Maynard, was reportedly in discussions with Barcelona executives in Lisbon earlier this week.

Manager Ruben Amorim, who previously excluded Rashford from the squad due to training performance concerns, remains firm in his selection criteria. “It is his choice not to play,” Amorim stated.

“I will always prioritize what is best for the team.”

Rashford’s potential departure has sparked interest from several European clubs, including Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan, though Milan’s focus may shift following their pursuit of Kyle Walker.

Other United players linked to moves, including Antony (Real Betis), Alejandro Garnacho (Chelsea and Napoli), and Kobbie Mainoo (Bayern Munich), also participated in training. The session provided a boost for United fans ahead of Thursday’s crucial Europa League fixture.

The training ground saw notable absences, including Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, and Jonny Evans, while Victor Lindelof returned following his frustrated exit during December’s Carabao Cup loss to Spurs.

As the January transfer window heats up, Rashford’s future remains uncertain, but his return to training suggests he is focused on giving his all for Manchester United, at least for now.
