Osimhen rues Galatasaray’s disappointing draw against Dynamo Kyiv

Date:

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has blamed Galatasaray’s underwhelming 3-3 draw against Dynamo Kyiv on the team’s lack of consistency and mistakes.

Despite a promising start, where they took a 2-0 lead, the Turkish champions allowed Kyiv to claw back and earn a draw in their UEFA Champions League group match on Tuesday at Rams Park.

Osimhen, who kept his spot in Galatasaray’s starting lineup, scored from the penalty spot in the second half to make it 3-1, but his team failed to hold onto the advantage.

Dynamo Kyiv’s Andriy Yarmolenko netted twice in 13 minutes, sealing the dramatic 3-3 draw.

Although Osimhen’s goal added to Galatasaray’s tally, he was among the players criticised for missing four clear scoring opportunities and was also cautioned in the 84th minute of the encounter.

After the match, the Nigerian forward expressed disappointment, admitting that the team’s collective errors cost them the chance to secure three points.

“We are disappointed. We thought we deserved more. As a team, we need to take responsibility as a team. Everyone made mistakes,”Osimhen told Galatasaray Harber.

He added that the team must improve communication and understanding on the field, stressing the importance of learning from their mistakes ahead of the next match.

“This result shows we need to be better, to focus and work on our mistakes,” Osimhen said.

“We could have scored more goals and sealed the win. Now, we have to prepare for the next matches.”

The draw means that Galatasaray must now wait for their final group match against Ajax at the Johan Cruijff Arena to confirm their place in the knockout rounds of the competition.
