Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Monday inaugurated a new wave of government officials, including the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), six commissioners, chairpersons, and members of key state commissions, in a bid to accelerate development and improve governance across the state.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at the New Festival Hall, Government House, Edo State, saw Governor Okpebholo emphasize the urgency of his administration’s developmental agenda. He called on the newly appointed officials to drive progress and fulfill the promises made to the people of Edo State.
“Your appointment is not just an honor but a call to serve with dedication, integrity, and excellence,” the governor remarked. “We are in a hurry to bring development to Edo State. Your skills and commitment are crucial to achieving this vision of good governance and improved service delivery.”
The newly sworn-in officials include:
- Onomen Goodness Briggs as Chairman of SUBEB.
- Commissioners: Sir Lucky Eseigbe, Hon. Paul Nosayaba Ohonbamu, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, Hon. Dr. Washington Osa Osifo, Mr. Andrew Ijegbai, and Barr. Marie Olabisi Idaomi.
- Jonathan Aifuobhokhan as Chairman of the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC).
- Francis Osaretin Osabuohien as Chairman of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC).
- Omozane Ebanehita Sonia as Chairman of the State Secondary Education Board (SSEB).
Portfolios for the newly appointed commissioners are to be announced at a later date.
Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed executives, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu expressed gratitude to the Governor for entrusting them with the roles and assured him of their collective commitment to delivering practical and impactful governance for the people of Edo State.
“Our dedication to Edo State is unwavering, and we pledge to work tirelessly to improve the lives of our citizens,” Ohonbamu said.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, Secretary to the State Government Musa Ikhilor, Chief of Staff Gani Audu, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Barr. Samson Osagie, former Deputy Governor Comrade Phillip Shaibu, and other political and government leaders.
