Nkunku’s Future Uncertain as Chelsea Target Vlahovic

Date:

Chelsea are reportedly targeting Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic as a potential replacement for wantaway star Christopher Nkunku, who is growing increasingly frustrated with his lack of Premier League minutes. Nkunku, 27, has been linked with a move back to Germany, with Bayern Munich emerging as a potential suitor. The French forward’s possible departure has prompted Chelsea to explore options, with Vlahovic emerging as a top candidate.

The 24-year-old Serbian forward, who joined Juventus from Fiorentina for £62 million in 2022, has proven himself as a reliable scorer, registering 12 goals and two assists in 24 appearances across all competitions this season. Chelsea’s interest comes at a time when Nkunku’s future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain.

Reports suggest that Chelsea could offer a swap deal involving midfielder Renato Veiga, 21, who has struggled for minutes under manager Enzo Maresca. Juventus is reportedly interested in the Portuguese player as a potential replacement for the injured Gleison Bremer. This potential deal could see Veiga heading to Turin in exchange for Vlahovic.

Vlahovic’s current contract with Juventus expires in 18 months, and the Serie A side is keen to tie him to a new deal. However, with financial constraints, Juventus is unlikely to meet Vlahovic’s current salary, leaving the door open for a transfer.

As the January transfer window progresses, Chelsea’s pursuit of the prolific striker signals their intent to strengthen their attacking options and prepare for a possible exit from Nkunku.
