Renowned Nigerian DJ, Jimmy Jatt, has revealed the details of his recent health challenges, sharing an inspiring story of resilience and recovery. Speaking during an appearance on Rubbin’ Minds, the veteran entertainer disclosed his struggle with multiple health issues, including vision loss and chronic kidney disease.
Jimmy Jatt recounted that his health troubles began in 2020 while he was in Nigeria during the COVID-19 lockdown. He lost vision in one eye and underwent surgery to restore it. While recovering from the surgery, he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, a condition that would require dialysis and eventually a kidney transplant in 2022.
“Maybe I caused it myself,” he reflected, adding that in 2019 he had decided to explore life outside Nigeria, traveling extensively across Europe and America. However, the lockdown in 2020 forced him to remain in Nigeria, where his health issues began to surface.
After undergoing surgery to regain his sight, Jimmy Jatt relocated to the United States, where his kidney condition was diagnosed. He spent time in the U.S. receiving dialysis before returning to Nigeria for a successful kidney transplant.
“I stayed in the U.S. for a while and was on dialysis. Eventually, I returned to Nigeria and underwent a kidney transplant. After the procedure, I took time off to fully recover,” he shared.
Despite these challenges, Jimmy Jatt continued to perform, DJing across America and Europe during his recovery. In December 2024, he decided to return home to Nigeria, fully embracing his recovery journey and his passion for music.
The veteran DJ’s story has inspired many fans and colleagues, with Jimmy Jatt emphasizing the importance of resilience and prioritizing health. His openness has sparked conversations around chronic illness and the strength it takes to overcome such adversities.
