Bayern, Chelsea eye move for Mainoo Amid Contract Standoff

Date:

Bayern Munich is set to join Chelsea in the pursuit of Kobbie Mainoo, with the Manchester United midfielder demanding a substantial wage increase. Mainoo, currently in the final years of his contract with United, is reportedly seeking a new deal worth £200,000 a week. However, Manchester United are hesitant to meet these demands, which could pave the way for the 19-year-old to leave Old Trafford either in the current transfer window or in the summer.

Mainoo, who has been earning £20,000 a week as one of United’s lowest-paid first-team players, has made a significant impact since his breakthrough into the senior squad. His performances, including a crucial goal in the FA Cup final against Manchester City, have established him as a key figure in the team. Mainoo’s rise from the Under-21s to a regular first-team starter has caught the attention of clubs across Europe.

While Chelsea has reportedly been leading the race for his signature, Bayern Munich’s interest adds a new twist. The German giants are long-term admirers of Mainoo and are preparing to make a move if the midfielder becomes available. United, though, are keen on keeping him, with manager Ruben Amorim acknowledging the player’s potential for growth.

Despite his undeniable talent, Amorim emphasized that Mainoo still has room to develop. “He is really good but can be so much better. He has so much potential to grow up even more,” Amorim said, urging the player to continue working on his game.

As the transfer saga unfolds, Mainoo’s future remains uncertain, with both Premier League and European heavyweights eyeing the young talent.
