Inter Close to Signing Kyle Walker on Loan After City Exit Request

Date:

Kyle Walker is on the verge of a dramatic loan transfer to Inter Milan after requesting to leave Manchester City. The 34-year-old England right-back, seeking a fresh start, is reportedly in advanced talks with the Serie A giants to secure a move abroad this January.

Walker’s decision to leave was confirmed by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola after their 8-0 FA Cup victory over Salford. Guardiola revealed that Walker had informed the club of his desire to explore opportunities elsewhere, leading to his exclusion from the match.

A source close to the player stated that Walker’s move to Inter Milan would provide him with the space and opportunity to reset, especially given his personal struggles off the pitch. “A loan move to Inter Milan will give Kyle the chance to start afresh,” the source said. “He needs that reset, which he can’t find in the Premier League.”

The England international, who currently boasts 93 caps for the national team, is eager to reach 100 caps before his career ends. He remains focused on representing the Three Lions at next year’s World Cup, which is a key motivation behind his decision to leave Manchester City.

Walker’s relationship with City has been successful, with the defender winning 17 major trophies, including six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and a Champions League title. However, Guardiola expressed understanding of Walker’s desire to explore playing abroad. “We cannot understand the success of the club in recent years without Kyle,” said Guardiola. “He has been incredible for us, but now, for many reasons, he wants to explore playing in another country.”

The loan move to Inter Milan is expected to be finalized soon, with Walker’s representatives in contact with the Italian club. Guardiola has given his blessing, stating that if a player wishes to leave, it is important they find a situation that suits their needs.

As Walker prepares to embark on this new chapter of his career, the defender remains determined to leave a lasting legacy in football. His move to Inter Milan marks a new opportunity for the seasoned professional as he aims to continue his journey with both club and country.
