Funke Akindele’s Everybody Loves Jenifa Becomes Nollywood’s Highest-Grossing Film

Nollywood superstar Funke Akindele has once again etched her name in cinematic history with her latest film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, becoming the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time.

The film, which went toe-to-toe with other blockbusters like Toyin Abraham’s Alakada: Bad and Boujee, has reached an unprecedented milestone. According to FilmOne, the movie’s distributor, Everybody Loves Jenifa has raked in an impressive ₦1.466b  at the box office—and counting.

Announcing the achievement on Instagram, FilmOne wrote: “Everybody Loves Jenifa has officially reached a historic ₦1.466b, making it the highest-grossing film of all time! A massive THANK YOU to our incredible audiences in Nigeria and Ghana for making this dream a reality! Still showing in cinemas—experience the magic on the big screen.”

The film shattered the ₦1b mark in under two weeks, reinforcing Akindele’s position as a Nollywood trailblazer. This success follows her record-breaking film A Tribe Called Judah, which was the first Nollywood movie to surpass ₦1b last year.

Fans and industry colleagues have flooded social media with praise, celebrating Akindele’s contribution to Nollywood. Her consistent box office dominance cements her status as the queen of Nigerian cinema, inspiring future generations of filmmakers.
