Wike Pledges Continued Development for FCT Residents in New Year Address

Date:

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has unveiled a comprehensive review of achievements from 2024 while charting an ambitious agenda for 2025. In a New Year’s statement released on Wednesday, Wike emphasized the importance of infrastructural development as a catalyst for economic growth and a better quality of life for FCT residents.

Reflecting on 2024, Wike outlined key milestones, including the construction of urban and rural roads that enhanced connectivity and economic activity. He also highlighted the rehabilitation of schools, improved security measures, and the creation of the Mandate Secretariat for Youth Development as transformative achievements.

“Our efforts in 2024 have set a solid foundation for sustained growth,” Wike stated. “Residents can now sleep peacefully, confident of their safety, and our infrastructural projects have sparked economic activities in rural areas.”

Looking ahead to 2025, the minister reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to further development. Plans include tackling transportation challenges through private sector partnerships, expanding youth employment programs, enhancing healthcare and education, and tapping into the FCT’s tourism potential.

Wike acknowledged ongoing criticisms, including disputes over demolitions and land reallocations, but urged residents to support his administration’s policies and fulfill their civic responsibilities, such as paying taxes.

“This administration remains steadfast in transforming the FCT into one of the world’s best capital territories,” Wike declared. “Together, we can achieve a thriving and prosperous FCT that upholds the dreams of our founding fathers.”

He concluded by wishing residents a prosperous New Year and urging them to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for Nigeria.
