Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill into law, marking a significant step in his administration’s commitment to economic growth and sustainable development. The budget, valued at N375.7 billion, is tagged the “Budget of Sustainable Impact” and aims to address the state’s infrastructure deficits, food security, and economic transformation.

The Governor signed the bill at a brief ceremony at the Executive Council Chamber in Ado-Ekiti, attended by Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, members of the State Executive Council, and the State House of Assembly. Governor Oyebanji expressed his gratitude to the State House of Assembly for the swift passage of the budget, noting that its implementation will play a key role in reviving the state’s economy and advancing his administration’s shared prosperity agenda.

Governor Oyebanji had initially presented the budget to the House of Assembly on October 29, 2024. At the time, he emphasized that the 2025 budget would focus on bridging infrastructure gaps, improving food security, creating wealth, enhancing productivity, and fostering an environment conducive to investment. He also highlighted that maintaining the January to December budget cycle was part of his commitment to fiscal discipline and good governance.

“I am pleased to have kept faith with our commitment to ensuring that the appropriation bill is signed into law before the year ends,” Governor Oyebanji said, reinforcing his administration’s focus on effective governance.

The Governor outlined his key priorities for the 2025 fiscal year, which include agricultural development, food security, wealth creation, and the completion of ongoing infrastructure projects. He also emphasized that the 2025 budget would allow the administration to build on past successes and continue transforming Ekiti State’s economy.

The Governor expressed appreciation to the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, and other lawmakers for their collaboration in ensuring the swift passage of the budget. He commended the legislature for its focus on transparency, accountability, and fiscal discipline throughout the budget deliberation process.

Governor Oyebanji also acknowledged the role of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms in improving revenue streams for the state, particularly through enhanced allocations from the federal government. He thanked President Tinubu for the positive impact of these reforms on Ekiti’s financial outlook and expressed optimism about sustained revenue growth in the coming years.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aribasoye, hailed the budget as a reflection of the state’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its people. He noted that the 2025 budget is not just a financial document but a testament to the government’s resolve to drive development and create opportunities for Ekiti residents.

The successful passage and signing of the 2025 Appropriation Bill marks a critical moment in Ekiti’s pursuit of economic prosperity and sustainable development.
