Governor Diri Pays Tribute as Women Affairs Commissioner Elizabeth Bidei Dies

The Bayelsa State Government has announced the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Bidei, Commissioner for Women Affairs and a valued member of the State Executive Council. Her passing was disclosed in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Orientation, and Strategy, Hon. Mrs. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, who described the loss as a profound tragedy for the state.

Governor Douye Diri expressed his deep shock and sadness over the loss, extending heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Bidei’s family, including her widower, Chief Jackson Bidei, and their children.

“Our hearts go out to the bereaved family,” the statement read. “Our sincerest sympathies and prayers are with them during this difficult time. Mrs. Bidei’s life and work had a profound impact on our state and its people.”

Mrs. Bidei was remembered for her tireless efforts in promoting the welfare and empowerment of women in Bayelsa State. Her passion as a public servant and her role in shaping impactful policies and programs earned her admiration and respect across the state.

“As a member of the Executive Council, she played a crucial role in shaping policies that benefited the people of Bayelsa State,” Hon. Koku-Obiyai said. “Her death has created a vacuum that is difficult to fill. We will remember her as a kind and compassionate individual who always placed the needs of others ahead of her own.”

The statement also highlighted her legacy as a champion of women’s empowerment, her dedication to public service, and her lasting contributions to Bayelsa State.

“We will always remember her as a true servant of the people and a champion of women’s empowerment. May her soul rest in peace,” the statement concluded.
