FG Approves ₦2.25b Healthcare Boost for Maradun, Zamfara State

The Maradun Youth Concern Citizens (MYCC) has commended Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence, for securing Federal Government approval for a ₦2.25 billion hospital project in Maradun, Zamfara State.

Comrade Ahmad Muhammad, the group’s convener, described the initiative as a transformative step in addressing the long-standing healthcare challenges of the region. The project, awarded to Messrs Century Information Systems Limited, earmarks ₦1.3 billion for construction, ₦208.8 million for furnishings, and ₦500 million for advanced medical equipment.

Expected to be completed within 18 months, the hospital promises to significantly enhance healthcare services for Maradun residents.

The MYCC also acknowledged Dr. Matawalle’s efforts in improving security in the area. These include directing security agencies to clear previously inaccessible roads, enabling safer travel and boosting economic activity.

Additionally, the Minister unveiled plans to establish a naval base in Maradun to further bolster regional security. Pending state government approval, this initiative would deploy over 1,200 naval officers equipped with advanced military technology. Once operational, the base is anticipated to strengthen stability and enhance public trust in the region.

The MYCC lauded the project as a “beacon of hope,” highlighting Dr. Matawalle’s dedication to his constituents’ well-being. The group also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support, which it described as a testament to the Federal Government’s commitment to equitable development in underserved areas.

Comrade Muhammad urged stakeholders to back the initiative, noting its potential to transform the socio-economic landscape of Maradun and Zamfara State. Other federal projects spearheaded by Dr. Matawalle in Zamfara, including major highway developments and security enhancements, further underscore his comprehensive approach to addressing regional challenges.

The hospital project represents a pivotal moment for Maradun, promising better healthcare and brighter prospects for its residents.
