After an eight-year-long legal battle, Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have finally reached a divorce settlement. The couple, who officially filed for divorce in 2016, signed the necessary paperwork on December 30, 2024, marking a significant milestone in their lengthy and bitter separation.
Jolie’s attorney, James Simon, confirmed the settlement, stating that while the process was “exhausting” for the actress, she is “relieved” to see this chapter come to an end. Simon also highlighted that Jolie had focused on finding peace and healing for their family following the split, and this settlement is just one step in an ongoing journey.
The former couple, married for just two years and together for a decade, have faced a series of public and legal challenges since their separation. While the divorce paperwork has been finalized, their legal battle over the Château Miraval vineyard in France remains unresolved. Jolie had sold her 50% stake in the winery to the Stoli Group, which Pitt contends was done without his approval, as he had no prior knowledge of the deal. This dispute has escalated to the point where both sides are prepared to take the matter to either a jury trial or mediation.
The couple’s divorce process has been highly contentious, with Jolie accusing Pitt of physical abuse, a claim he has consistently denied. Despite the allegations, Pitt was cleared by authorities after an investigation. The pair were legally declared single in 2019, although their financial and custody disputes continued to be a source of public tension.
