Samuel Chukwueze, will be out of action for a month after suffering an injury during AC Milan’s 1-1 draw against AS Roma at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday night.
The Super Eagles winger joins the long list of absentees for the Rossoneri which includes Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Yunus Musah, Noah Okafor and Alessandro Florenzi.
According to Football-Italia, Chukwueze suffered a thigh strain and that would see him miss action for up to a month.
During the second half of the match against Roma, the Nigerian pulled up clutching the back of his leg and immediately called out to the bench to be substituted.
The 25-year-old was distraught as the medical staff carried him off the field.
This means that Chukwueze would certainly miss the Supercoppa Italiana encounter against Juventus on January 3 in Riyadh.
At the time Chukwueze returns to action, he would meet a new Coach in-charge of AC Milan as Paulo Fonseca has been sacked and replaced by Sergio Conceiçao and at the helm.
Meanwhile, sources from Italy are reporting that Arsenal could move for AC Milan star Samuel Chukwueze to cover for the injured Bukayo Saka.
Mikel Arteta would love 2025 to be the year Arsenal finally get their hands back on the Premier League trophy and he may have to dip into the transfer market in January to keep his team competitive.
With Saka ruled out for a number of weeks after picking up a hamstring injury, the Spaniard has his eyes on AC Milan star Chukwueze as cover for the winger.
According to reports, Arsenal could offer Jakub Kiwior in a swap deal for the 25-year-old, with Milan reportedly interested in the defender.
Saka’s injury is a huge blow for Arsenal as they chase down Liverpool in the title race. Martin Odegaard’s injury earlier in the campaign harmed the Gunners’ form and Arteta will be keen to avoid that.
With the January window just around the corner, Saka’s absence may prove to be the perfect excuse for the North London club to make a statement to their rivals from Merseyside.
Saka has featured in all but three of Arsenal’s games so far this season.
He has now tallied 250 appearances in a Gunners shirt at the age of 23, but the huge number of minutes he has played may have finally caught up to him, particularly with his explosive playstyle.
Arteta has not put an exact timeframe on Saka’s return, but hamstring injuries can easily keep a player sidelined for six or more weeks.
