Three Arrested in Amukoko Armed Robbery Attempt Amid Christmas Celebrations in Lagos

Date:

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have successfully arrested three members of an armed robbery gang that attempted to rob residents of Amukoko, Lagos, during the Christmas celebration. The arrest occurred on December 25, 2024, following a swift response to a distress call from the Safejo area of Amukoko, where the gang had been engaging in criminal activities.

The suspects, identified as Emmanuel Okoli (20), Ogunde Tejiri (20), and Emmanuel Orji (18), were apprehended around 1 a.m. as they attempted to carry out robbery attacks on residents and fun seekers in the area. The police also recovered dangerous weapons used by the gang during the attacks.

The arrest is part of a broader nationwide effort, directed by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to ensure heightened security and safety during the festive period. ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest and expressed the police’s commitment to maintaining safety throughout the holidays.

The Lagos State Police Commissioner, Olanrewaju Ishola, had deployed officers to the area, which led to the successful intervention. The police have since launched intensified searches to apprehend the remaining members of the gang still at large.

This arrest is part of a wider police operation across various states in Nigeria, aimed at curbing armed robbery and gangsterism during the holiday season. The police have vowed to continue their efforts to safeguard residents and maintain peace in the state.
