Wizkid Backs Olamide Amidst Alleged Fallout with Asake

Date:

Pop star Wizkid has shown public support for rapper and record label boss Olamide amidst rumors of a fallout between Olamide and his protégé, Asake. In a rare social media post, Wizkid tweeted on December 26, 2024, “Love baddo! 4 L (for life) tin,” a statement fans interpreted as solidarity with Olamide, also known as “Baddo.”

This came in the wake of Asake’s actions on Instagram, where he deleted most of his posts, removed “YBNL” from his bio, and unfollowed Olamide, fueling speculation of a rift. Asake, signed to YBNL in February 2022, had previously credited Olamide for transforming his career.

The alleged fallout has sparked widespread discussion in the entertainment industry and among fans, with theories suggesting that Asake’s contract with YBNL had expired and that he might be pursuing independence. Reports claim Olamide proposed a renewal, which Asake declined.

Despite the rumors, neither Olamide nor Asake have made an official statement about the situation. However, Olamide responded warmly to Wizkid’s tweet with, “Eleniyan! Love always, brother,” signaling goodwill amidst the controversy.

Social media influencers and industry insiders have weighed in on the matter. Oyemykke, a popular social commentator, urged both parties to find common ground, emphasizing that Asake still benefits from Olamide’s experience and YBNL’s platform. Others, like Daniel Regha, argued that Asake’s current success is heavily tied to Olamide’s influence, advising the artist to reconsider his moves carefully.

Adding another layer to the saga, controversial artist Dammy Krane accused Olamide of “slimy ways” in an Instagram post, hinting at potential grievances but providing no concrete evidence.

This is not the first time Asake has removed YBNL from his profile. A similar incident in June 2024 sparked similar reactions, though it was eventually dismissed.

For now, fans and pundits await further developments, with many hoping the rumored rift will be resolved amicably. As one commentator aptly put it, “This is a family case; they’ll sort it out.”
