Salah, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk Tops XI Out-of-Contract Players for 2025

Date:

As 2024 winds down, football fans are eagerly anticipating the January transfer window, which brings not only the excitement of player transfers but also marks the beginning of a critical period for stars entering the final six months of their contracts. Clubs across the globe are now eyeing the opportunity to secure pre-contract agreements with some of the sport’s biggest names, many of whom could be free agents come next summer.

Among the headline-grabbing names is Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, who continues to dazzle as the Premier League’s top scorer while steering his team toward a potential league title. Despite being 32, Salah’s consistent performances at the highest level ensure he’ll be a sought-after target for elite clubs.

Salah is joined by Liverpool teammates Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, both of whom face uncertain futures at Anfield. Van Dijk remains a defensive powerhouse, while Alexander-Arnold, at just 26, has his best years ahead and is reportedly a prime target for Real Madrid.

Bayern Munich also dominates the list of high-profile players with expiring contracts. Veterans Manuel Neuer and Thomas Partey, midfield maestro Joshua Kimmich, and winger Leroy Sane are all on the brink of potentially bidding farewell to the German champions. Notably, left-back Alphonso Davies, just 24, has garnered significant interest from clubs across Europe, with Real Madrid reportedly leading the race.

From the Premier League, Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City and Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min are among the biggest names set to be free agents. De Bruyne, despite a challenging season under Pep Guardiola, remains one of the most decorated midfielders in modern football. Meanwhile, Son, a prolific scorer, might seek silverware after years of dedication at Spurs without a trophy.

With these talents up for grabs, teams across Europe and beyond are gearing up to secure marquee signings. While some clubs aim to bolster their squads for immediate impact, others will look to capitalize on the chance to build for the future with world-class additions.

As the clock ticks toward January, the footballing world waits with bated breath to see where these stars will land and what surprises the transfer window has in store.
