Return govt property or face legal action, Ondo warns Akeredolu’s men

Date:

The Ondo State Government has raised serious concerns about the unlawful possession of its property by private individuals, one year after the death of former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

Kayode Ajulo, the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, issued a stern warning to those holding these assets, demanding their immediate return or face legal consequences.

In a statement released in Akure, Ajulo said that a significant portion of the state’s property had been transferred into private hands, which he deemed unacceptable.

Ajulo, reflecting on the past year under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, stressed the importance of adhering to the state’s laws and constitution.

He also expressed frustration over attempts to suppress important inquiries regarding the situation, including blackmail and false accusations against Governor Aiyedatiwa and his administration.

He suggested that only those guilty of misconduct should fear the law.

The statement read, “One year after the untimely passing of former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, a significant portion of the state’s assets had been unlawfully transferred into private hands. This is unacceptable.

“During a candid review of the past year under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as attorney general, I must say, this is wrong; we cannot continue on this path.

“As the chief law officer of the state, I must ensure that Ondo State operates within the framework of our constitution and laws. Our law enforcement and regulatory agencies must be fully accountable.”

The Attorney General called for a thorough audit of state assets to ensure transparency, accountability, and proper use of public resources for the benefit of the people of Ondo State.

He also criticised those who reacted with media attacks, arguing that they had failed to provide a valid explanation for their actions and had mischaracterized efforts to safeguard state assets.

“Some of these individuals have resorted to media attacks, yet they fail to explain why they continuously react without provocation.”

“Arakunrin Akeredolu I knew would never have allowed state funds to be exploited like this,” he stressed.
