Tinubu Stands by Wike, Says Nigerians Must Improve Compliance

Date:

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly defended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, amid criticism surrounding his performance, praising him as a “good man” and a “performing minister.” The president also addressed concerns regarding the lack of compliance among Nigerians, emphasizing that this is a key challenge in the nation’s progress.

Responding to recent critiques about Wike’s handling of his ministerial duties, President Tinubu expressed confidence in Wike’s leadership, underscoring his commitment to the development of the Federal Capital Territory and his impressive performance in office.

“Wike is a good man, and he is a performing minister,” President Tinubu remarked. He further attributed some of the challenges faced in the FCT to a broader issue of non-compliance by Nigerians, adding that the country’s success hinges on everyone’s adherence to rules and regulations.

While defending Wike’s actions, Tinubu acknowledged that the former governor of Rivers State is working tirelessly to address the numerous infrastructural and administrative challenges facing the FCT. He emphasized that Wike’s leadership qualities were crucial in advancing the administration’s goals in Abuja.

The president’s comments came in the wake of increasing public debate about Wike’s performance in his new role, with critics questioning certain decisions and his approach to handling the affairs of the FCT. However, Tinubu’s support highlights the government’s continued confidence in Wike’s capabilities, reinforcing the idea that the success of his initiatives will ultimately depend on the cooperation and compliance of the public.
