NDLEA Arrests 34, Seizes Large Quantity of Narcotics in Kano

Date:

In a proactive effort to ensure a drug-free and safe environment during the Christmas and New Year festivities, the Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 34 suspects in connection with illicit drug activities.

On December 24, the agency conducted coordinated raids across various notorious drug dens in Kano, including locations in Fagge Area, Sani Abacha Stadium, Danagundi, and the infamous Filin Idi drug den. These areas have long been hotspots for drug-related activities.

Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, the agency’s spokesperson, confirmed the successful operation, which led to the seizure of substantial quantities of illicit substances, including cannabis sativa, Exol-5, and “suck and die.” In addition to the drugs, dangerous arms used by drug peddlers to confront NDLEA officers were also recovered during the raids.

Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, the State Commander of NDLEA in Kano, assured the public that those arrested, including drug users, would undergo counseling and recovery support. He emphasized that the operation was part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal drug networks, especially as the holiday season approaches.

“Our mission is clear: to safeguard the health and safety of Kano citizens,” said Commander Idris-Ahmad. “The seizures made during these raids are a testament to our commitment to eradicating drug abuse in our community.”

The agency also assured the public that investigations are ongoing and suspects found guilty would face legal action. NDLEA’s continued efforts are aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of substance abuse while emphasizing the need for community cooperation in the fight against drugs.

On behalf of NDLEA Chairman Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba-Marwa, the agency extended warm wishes to the people of Kano for a peaceful and drug-free Christmas and New Year celebration.
