Christmas: Oyebanji Urges Ekiti People to Reflect on Peace, Compassion

Date:

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has called on residents of the state and Nigerians at large to use the Christmas season to deepen love, foster harmonious relationships, and reflect on the teachings of Jesus Christ to build a better society.

In his Christmas message, conveyed through a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, Governor Oyebanji congratulated Ekiti residents for witnessing another Christmas. He described the season as an opportunity for sober reflection and prayers for peace and development in Ekiti State and Nigeria.

The governor emphasized that Christmas signifies God’s special favor to humanity through the birth of Jesus Christ, the “Prince of Peace.” He urged residents to embrace the spirit of love, sacrifice, humility, and compassion—values central to the teachings of Christ.

“Christmas is not just about eating, drinking, and merriment; it is a time to reassess our relationship with God and explore ways to help others, especially those in distress,” he said.

Governor Oyebanji encouraged Ekiti residents to show love and compassion to one another, following the example of Jesus Christ, and to live in peace and harmony with people of other faiths. He stressed the importance of humility, tolerance, and perseverance as virtues necessary for building a harmonious society.

He further urged the Christian community to continue praying for his administration’s success in delivering on its vision of “Shared Prosperity,” which aims to benefit all Ekiti residents.

“As we rejoice at this momentous occasion, the true essence of the season must not be lost on us. Let us reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ and its significance to mankind, strengthening our bonds of love and unity,” the governor concluded.

The governor’s message comes as Ekiti State prepares to celebrate the festive season with renewed hope and dedication to collective progress.
