The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has officially launched its recruitment process to fill specialized positions within the organization, aiming to bolster its workforce and enhance service delivery. The recruitment, which began on December 13, 2024, is part of FIRS’s ongoing efforts to consolidate its operations and improve efficiency.
The positions available include assistant manager and deputy manager roles in critical areas such as tax investigation, public relations, research, ICT (cybersecurity and AI management), risk management, and legal services. Additionally, the agency is seeking senior managers and assistant directors for tax audit positions.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for these roles, FIRS has set out specific qualifications and professional requirements. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a second-class lower division or lower credit. Furthermore, candidates must have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program no later than December 31, 2017.
Age limits have also been defined: assistant manager and deputy manager applicants must not exceed 40 years of age by December 31, 2024, while senior manager and assistant director applicants must be under 45 years of age by the same date.
Skills and Competencies
FIRS is looking for candidates with strong leadership and management skills, as well as effective communication and interpersonal abilities. Applicants should be able to work as part of a team, demonstrate proficiency in Nigerian tax laws and regulatory frameworks, and possess excellent analytical skills. A regulatory mindset with the ability to enforce tax laws is essential.

The application portal will be open from December 23, 2024, until January 11, 2025. This recruitment follows the opening of applications for tax officer positions in November 2024, targeting officer two and officer one roles in several states across Nigeria, including Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Ekiti, Lagos, and Oyo.
