Three Nigerian footballers have secured spots in the top 10 of the Most Valuable African Players in 2024, following the latest update of the Turkish Super Lig’s transfer market by Transfermarkt.
Leading the pack is Victor Osimhen, whose market value remains steady at €75m, making him the most valuable African player.
He retains his position ahead of Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, who is valued at €60m, and Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, who plays for German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt and is also valued at €60m.
Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman shares third place with a value of €55m, alongside Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, both of whom are also valued at €55m.
Victor Boniface, the Nigerian forward for Bayer Leverkusen, occupies the eighth spot with a €45m valuation, just behind West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus (Ghana) and Cameroon’s Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford, who are both valued at €50m.
While Osimhen is the most valuable striker, Hakimi is the highest-valued defender on the list.
In midfield, the title of the Most Valuable African Midfielder is Senegal’s Pape Matar Sarr of Tottenham Hotspur, who is valued at €45m.
The most valuable goalkeeper is Cameroon’s Andre Onana of Manchester United, with a market value of €35m, followed by Nigeria’s Maduka Okoye of Udinese, whose valuation stands at €7.5m.
