Funke Akindele’s ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’ Smashes ₦500M Milestone in Record Time

Nollywood star Funke Akindele has made history with her latest film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, which has set a new box office record by grossing ₦511 million in just 12 days.

The movie, which premiered on December 13, 2024, has become the highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2024 and the fastest to reach ₦500m at the box office. Everybody Loves Jenifa surpassed expectations, breaking multiple records across Nigeria and capturing the attention of filmgoers nationwide.

FilmOne Entertainment, the movie’s distributor, made the announcement via Instagram, celebrating the movie’s remarkable success. The post read: “Everybody Loves Jenifa smashes records with ₦511M at the box office, becoming 2024’s highest-grossing Nollywood title and the fastest to hit ₦500M in just 12 days.”

Funke Akindele, who stars as the iconic Jenifa in the film, expressed her gratitude to her fans and supporters for their continued love and encouragement. She took to social media to share her excitement, writing, “Thank you, Lord!! Thank you everyone!!! I couldn’t have done this without your love and support!!!! God bless you all!!”

In its opening week, Everybody Loves Jenifa sold over 71,700 tickets, grossing ₦72 million in its first weekend alone, further solidifying Akindele’s position as one of Nollywood’s top box office stars.

Akin to her past successes, including Omo Ghetto: The Saga, which remains the highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time with ₦1.5 billion, Akindele continues to captivate audiences with her blend of humor, drama, and suspense. In Everybody Loves Jenifa, she returns to the screen as Jenifa, delighting fans with her beloved character’s wit and charm.

As the film continues to break records, Akindele’s impact on Nollywood remains undeniable, further proving her ability to push boundaries and create blockbuster hits in the Nigerian film industry.
