Edo State Budget for 2025 Hits N675B

Date:

The Edo State House of Assembly has officially passed the state’s 2025 budget, valued at N675 billion, following a plenary session in Benin City on Monday. The budget, which now awaits assent from Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo, was passed after the adoption of the report by the House Committee on Budget and Project Monitoring.

Chairman of the committee, Sunday Fada, representing Esan Central, presented the report, highlighting that the budget consists of N225 billion for recurrent expenditure and N451 billion for capital expenditure. The increase from the initial N605.7 billion to N675 billion was made to support the governor’s five-point agenda for the state’s development.

The House reviewed the budget clause by clause during the committee of supply and approved the proposed increase. Speaker of the House, Blessing Agbebaku, subsequently directed the clerk of the House, Mr. Yahaya Omogbai, to send the final version of the budget to the governor for his assent.

This budget is expected to drive significant infrastructural and developmental projects in Edo State, particularly focusing on the governor’s agenda for the upcoming year.
