First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has donated 22,800 bags of rice and N5 million to each of the 19 northern states to aid vulnerable Christians ahead of the Christmas celebrations. The palliatives were officially distributed in Kaduna on Sunday in an event attended by Governors Dikko Radda (Katsina), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), and the host, Uba Sani (Kaduna).
Each state will receive 1,200 bags of rice, with the N5 million allocated to ease transportation logistics. Senator Tinubu emphasized gratitude and unity in her address, recalling a similar initiative she and Vice President Nana Shettima spearheaded in Imo State.
Speaking on the importance of gratitude, she stated, “We as Christians know that ingratitude is a great sin. When Jesus healed the 10 lepers, only one returned to give thanks. Let us always be grateful.”
The First Lady acknowledged several key figures, including the wives of the Vice President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the Deputy Senate President, along with ministers and other dignitaries.
Governor Uba Sani hailed Senator Tinubu as a compassionate leader committed to the welfare of the underprivileged. He lauded her initiatives, such as the Renewed Hope Schemes for the Elderly and Women, and praised her impactful social intervention programs dating back to her tenure as Lagos State’s First Lady.
“Her generosity knows no bounds,” Sani remarked, adding that the distribution aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to alleviating economic hardships.
The governor highlighted ongoing efforts in Kaduna State to support the vulnerable through financial inclusion programs and social intervention schemes. He urged citizens to use the festive season to promote peace and unity, emphasizing the state’s recovery and progress in fostering harmony.
“Our dear state has bounced back to reckoning. Let us consolidate the prevailing peaceful atmosphere,” he added.
The event reinforced the government’s commitment to addressing economic challenges and bringing relief to citizens during the festive season.
