State House Allocates N15bn for Tyres, Vehicles, Office Infrastructure in 2025 Budget

Date:

The State House has earmarked N15.09 billion for various key expenditures in the 2025 budget, as part of a broader government plan to strengthen operations at the Presidential Villa. According to the newly released 2025 Appropriation Bill, this allocation will cover the purchase of tyres for bulletproof vehicles, SUVs, and operational vehicles, as well as the construction of a new office complex for Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants.

The proposed budget, presented by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday as part of a N49.7 trillion national spending plan, also includes a provision of N5.49 billion for the annual maintenance of the Presidential Villa. The budget underscores the administration’s commitment to strengthening security and infrastructure, with a focus on human capital development.

As part of the detailed breakdown, N164 million is allocated for the procurement of tyres for various vehicles, including bulletproof cars, platform trucks, and other utility vehicles used by the State House. In addition, N1.1 billion is designated for the replacement of SUVs, and N3.66 billion will go towards purchasing operational vehicles for the Presidential Villa.

Key security measures also feature prominently in the budget. N127.86 million is set aside for the purchase of SUVs for the President and Vice President, while the Chief of Staff’s office will receive N285 million for motor vehicle procurement. The Chief Security Officer to the President is allocated N179.63 million for operational vehicles.

In a further effort to streamline operations, the budget allocates N1.83 billion for the construction of a new office complex dedicated to Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants to the President.

The budget also prioritizes significant sectors, with N4.91 trillion set aside for defense and security, and N4.06 trillion for infrastructure, including major projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Highway. In addition, education and health receive substantial funding, with N3.52 trillion earmarked for education, including support for Universal Basic Education and new higher institutions, while the health sector is allocated N2.48 trillion to improve healthcare delivery.

In his budget presentation, President Tinubu highlighted the importance of these allocations in securing peace and rebuilding prosperity, with a projected fiscal deficit of N13.39 trillion to be financed through borrowing. This comprehensive approach reflects the government’s strategy to address the nation’s pressing needs while fostering economic stability.
