Under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has once again brought pride to the nation with a remarkable achievement in sports. Corporal Juliet Chukwu, a member of the force, clinched the Bantamweight Championship title in an exciting and skillful display at the prestigious Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC119) in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This victory underscores the growing global recognition of Nigerian athletes and highlights the NPF’s commitment to excellence in various fields, including sports. IGP Egbetokun reaffirmed the Force’s dedication to promoting police excellence in sports, particularly in the fast-developing discipline of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). This commitment is reflected in the official introduction of MMA to the NPF through the formation of the Nigeria Police MMA Association, as well as the sponsorship of the first-ever IGP MMA Open National Championship and Stakeholders Sensitization Seminar. Additionally, MMA will be demonstrated at the 14th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA) – Oluyole 2024.

The IGP has pledged ongoing support for Corporal Chukwu and all police athletes, aiming for more honors and achievements across various sectors. Over the course of the year, the NPF has made significant strides in personnel efficiency, crime-fighting efforts, anti-corruption reforms, and now, in sports.

The Nigeria Police Force continues to prioritize organizational development and success, with numerous initiatives in place to nurture talent and foster an environment of excellence for its officers across all endeavors.
