Tyson I ‘Blacked Out’ During Jake Paul Fight

Date:

Mike Tyson has revealed a concerning detail about his November bout against Jake Paul, confessing he remembers little of the fight beyond the first round.

The former heavyweight champion, now 58, stepped into the ring for a highly publicized Netflix exhibition match against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. Despite an explosive start, Tyson faded quickly, with Paul securing a comfortable victory on points over the eight two-minute rounds.

Speaking on Fox Sports Radio, Tyson shared his troubling experience, saying:
“I don’t remember the fight that much; I kind of blanked out. I haven’t even watched it back. The last thing I recall is coming back to my corner after the first round and seeing Jake bowing. After that, it’s all a blur. I wasn’t tired or sweaty; I just don’t know what happened.”

Tyson also revealed that his training camp was marred by health issues, claiming he “almost died” during preparations.

The fight reportedly earned Tyson a staggering £16 million ($20 million) and drew an audience of 100 million viewers. However, the loss was added to his professional record, bringing it to 50 wins, seven losses, and two no contests across 59 fights.

Despite the lucrative payday, concerns have been raised about Tyson’s future in the ring. Following his unsettling comments and memory issues, his wife, Lakiha Spicer, has insisted he is “done” with boxing. Tyson’s son, Amir, echoed her sentiments in an interview, stating:
“My stepmom says he’s done, and they’re a team. I’d love for him to hang it up, but he’s his own man. He loves boxing, and if he decides to fight again, no one will stop him.”

Tyson’s fight against Paul has faced scrutiny, with some fans alleging it was “fixed.” Nonetheless, the boxing legend called out Jake Paul’s brother, Logan, in the aftermath of the match, hinting at a potential future bout.

While both Tyson and Paul received 24-day suspensions following the fight, it remains uncertain whether Tyson will step back into the ring, especially given his health concerns and family opposition.
