Fulham not scared of Liverpool, Iwobi Boasts

Date:

Fulham midfielder, Alex Iwobi, is brimming with confidence ahead of his side’s daunting Premier League clash with league leaders Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.

The 28-year-old, who is having his best start to a season in English football, insists Fulham are ready to take on any challenge and are not intimidated by the Reds.

Despite Liverpool’s strong form this season, Iwobi believes Fulham has the ability to compete with the top teams, pointing to their recent performances against heavyweights like Arsenal and Manchester City.

“We’re not scared of anyone,” Iwobi told Daily Mail.

“We are going to Anfield to get a result. We know what Liverpool can do, but we have the quality and the team spirit to take on anyone,”

Fulham’s resilience has been evident, with Iwobi playing a crucial role.

He has scored five goals this season, already surpassing his previous best, and is thriving under the guidance of manager Marco Silva, who has allowed him to fully express himself both on and off the pitch.

“We’ve shown we can compete with the best. It’s all about believing in ourselves and playing to our strengths,” Iwobi said.

The Nigeria international credits much of his success to the freedom Silva has given him.

“It’s nice to have a manager who gives you the confidence to express yourself. That’s been a big factor in my development,” he said.

“I feel confident in my ability, and when I’m at my best, I feel unstoppable.”

Iwobi’s confidence comes at a crucial time for Fulham, who are just two points off the top five in the Premier League and looking to continue their strong form into the Christmas period.

“Whether it’s playing against Liverpool or anyone else, we’re ready,” says Iwobi, who knows the significance of the upcoming match.

Fulham, unbeaten in three since the puzzling 4-1 home defeat to Wolves, and Silva will hope Iwobi can continue his fine form.

“He’s been incredible for us,” Silva said of the player he signed for Everton and then brought to Craven Cottage last year.

Iwobi has never scored against Liverpool, but bagged two goals from a new central midfield role in the win over Brighton.
