Dangote Refinery Exports First PMS Shipment to Cameroon

Date:

Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest oil refinery, has marked a historic milestone by exporting its first shipment of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to Cameroon. This achievement was made possible through a strategic partnership with Neptune Oil, a prominent energy company in Cameroon.

Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President and CEO of the Dangote Group, hailed the milestone as a testament to the refinery’s vision for fostering African energy independence.

“This first export of PMS to Cameroon demonstrates our commitment to creating a united, energy-independent Africa. By refining and exchanging resources within the continent, we are prioritizing the well-being of our people,” Dangote stated.

Antoine Ndzengue, Director of Neptune Oil, described the partnership as transformative for Cameroon, emphasizing its role in enhancing energy security and driving local economic growth.

“This collaboration with Dangote Refinery is a game-changer for Cameroon. By directly importing petroleum products from this world-class facility, we strengthen our energy security, reduce reliance on intermediaries, and support economic development,” Ndzengue said.

The partnership between Dangote Refinery and Neptune Oil goes beyond the initial shipment, with both companies committing to a sustainable supply chain aimed at stabilizing fuel prices and fostering economic growth across the region.

The collaboration represents a significant step in Dangote Refinery’s mission to meet domestic energy needs in Nigeria while contributing to regional markets. With a processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the Lagos-based facility stands as the largest single-train refinery in the world, redefining Africa’s energy landscape.

For Cameroon, the import marks a shift towards greater energy independence. By sourcing PMS directly from Dangote Refinery, Neptune Oil reduces the country’s reliance on international intermediaries, ensuring more reliable and cost-effective access to petroleum products. This approach is set to bolster local energy security while stimulating economic development.

This landmark transaction underscores the shared commitment of both companies to advancing intra-African trade. It sets the stage for further collaborations that strengthen regional energy ties and create broader economic opportunities across the continent.

The Dangote Refinery’s export to Cameroon is more than just a business milestone—it is a beacon of Africa’s growing capability to harness its resources for the collective benefit of its people.
