The Minister of Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to advancing the culture and tourism sectors in Nigeria. He emphasized that the President’s dedication to preserving the nation’s unique identity and values led to the rebranding of the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, aiming to foster peace, unity, and growth.
Tunji-Ojo made this statement on Sunday during the centenary celebration of Okeagbe Community in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State. He highlighted the President’s efforts to revitalize the Ministry of Creative Economy and Tourism, which has been delivering on its mandate, and the recent approval by the Federal Executive Council for the development of the creative industry.
“The President is committed to promoting culture and tourism in Nigeria,” Tunji-Ojo said. “I congratulate the people of Okeagbe for 100 years of unity, harmony, and coexistence. We look forward to the next century, full of prosperity.”
Tunji-Ojo also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for appointing a son of the community as the Minister of Interior, thanking Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his ongoing efforts to elevate the state.
In his remarks, the Governor of Ondo State, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, represented by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Rasheed Badmus, encouraged traditional rulers to continue showcasing their cultural heritage to enhance its promotion. He commended the peaceful atmosphere across the state, pointing out that it facilitates the celebration and preservation of local cultures.
“We are proud of the peace in Ondo State, from Ikare to Arigidi, Okeagbe, and beyond,” Aiyedatiwa said. “With peace among our traditional rulers, it becomes easier to promote and sustain our cultural values. Our government encourages traditional leaders to keep exhibiting the rich cultures of their communities.”
