Salah Set to Extend Anfield Stay with New Liverpool Deal

Date:

Liverpool and Mohamed Salah have reportedly reached an agreement to extend the winger’s stay at Anfield, with a new two-year contract in place. Salah’s current deal is set to expire in June, sparking months of speculation about his future.

According to reports from The Mirror, the 32-year-old Egyptian international will remain a key part of Liverpool’s squad under manager Arne Slot. Negotiations initially hit a roadblock, as Salah’s agent, Rammy Abbas, pushed for a three-year extension while Liverpool’s ownership, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), only offered one year. A compromise has now been reached, securing Salah’s services for two more seasons.

Salah, who reportedly earns around £400,000 per week, had no financial disputes during the negotiations. Instead, the length of the contract was the main sticking point.

The deal underscores Salah’s importance to Liverpool, as he has delivered 13 goals and eight assists in 14 Premier League appearances this season. Since joining the club in 2017, he has amassed an impressive 226 goals in 370 games, winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and two League Cups.

In addition to Salah, Liverpool is focused on securing new deals for other key players, including Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, both of whom are also in the final year of their contracts.

Last month, Salah expressed frustration over the delay in contract talks. Speaking after Liverpool’s win at Southampton, he said:
“We are almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers yet. I love the fans, and the fans love me, but this situation isn’t in my hands. Of course, I’m disappointed.”

This new agreement comes as a relief to both Salah and Liverpool supporters, as the team sits atop the Premier League table, aiming for another title under Slot’s leadership.

With Salah’s commitment secured, Liverpool strengthens its position to maintain its success and continue competing at the highest level.
