Nnadozie sets sight on WAFCON glory

Date:

Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, is determined to lead Nigeria to victory at the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The 23-year-old, currently playing for Paris FC, has been in exceptional form throughout 2024 and was recently nominated for both the CAF Women’s Player of the Year and the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year awards.

In a recent interview with OJBsportstv, Nnadozie expressed the team’s unwavering resolve to reclaim the continental title.

“It is the last game of the year, but next year we will continue where we stopped. The goal is to win the AFCON, and by the grace of God, we will,” she said.

Despite a fourth-place finish in the previous tournament, the Falcons are poised to rekindle the winning spirit that saw them dominate WAFCON, securing three consecutive titles in 2014, 2016, and 2018.

Nnadozie believes in the squad’s potential, praising the team’s blend of youth and experience.

“We have a bright future. Over the past four to five years, we have been progressing. With so many young talents, I’m confident that in the next 20 to 30 years, we will not lack good footballers in this team.”

As one of the squad’s leaders, Nnadozie will be tasked with guiding the new faces and helping the team restore its continental dominance.
