Iwobi reveals secret behind goals

Date:

Alex Iwobi played a pivotal role in Fulham’s 3-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Matchday 14 of the Premier League, earning the Man of the Match award for his clinical performance.

The 28-year-old midfielder’s goals, aided by Brighton’s defensive mistakes, were key to Fulham’s impressive win.

Iwobi’s first goal came just four minutes into the game when Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen made a rare error.

Fulham’s high pressing game paid off as Iwobi intercepted a poor pass and calmly slotted the ball home.

Despite a second-half equaliser from Carlos Baleba for Brighton, Fulham regained the lead through a Matt O’Riley own goal.

Iwobi sealed the win with a sensational curling effort in the 87th minute, which left Verbruggen with no chance.

After the match, Iwobi credited Fulham’s tactical pressing strategy as crucial to his goals. He revealed that the team had anticipated Brighton’s play-from-the-back style, setting up to exploit any mistakes.

“We had a structure to press them, and when they made a mistake, I capitalised,” Iwobi said.

“For the second goal, I fought to win the ball back and then kept my composure to hit the target. The deflection didn’t matter, as long as it went in.”

Looking ahead, Fulham faces a challenging set of fixtures against Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea. Iwobi’s form will be key as they look to build on this important victory.
